Workshops, Talks and Lectures
I offer interactive Mental Health Self-Care Workshops for performing arts students aged 16+ and professionals. The talks include recognising mental health symptoms, how they relate to performers as well as looking at typical underlying factors and triggers. Break-out groups will explore their relationship with food, perfectionism, social media influences and body image.
A discussion regarding the relationship between mental health and injuries is also part of the workshop. Participants will learn techniques to use for themselves and also to help others. Due to the subject matter, some issues may come up for participants during the workshop, so a few short, confidential one-to-ones will be available with me afterwards.
These workshops run between 1 and 2 hours, depending what is required, with an additional thirty minutes for one-to-ones mentioned above.
A 1 hour workshop is also available specifically dealing with performance, audition and exam anxiety. Other tailor made workshops can be discussed with the school/company.
I present dance science talks and in 2019 I have so far been invited to speak at the International Association of Dance Medicine Science (IADMS) regional meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland in March and have put in a proposal to speak at the IADMS annual conference being held in Montreal in October 2019.
Science in Dance has also invited me to speak at their conference in Warrington (UK) in April.
In July I am presenting my Mental Health Self-Care Workshop as part of the teachers’ CPD day at the RAD in London
The International Dance Council has invited me to speak at their annual symposium in Athens.
I am a guest lecturer at the University College London (UCL) on their Performing Arts Medicine MSc course.
