Workshops, Talks/Lectures

Workshops, Talks and Lectures

My interactive Mental Health, Self-Care Workshops are created for performing arts students from the age of 14 through to professional dancers. They are also suitable for those working with dancers; teachers, physiotherapists and also the parents of students.

The talks cover recognising mental health symptoms and how they relate to performers by looking at typical underlying factors and triggers.  Break-out groups allow attendees to explore subject such as their relationship with food, perfectionism, social media influences and body image to enable them to see if these issues are affecting them.

A discussion regarding the relationship between mental health and injuries is also included; this can help with both recovering from and avoiding future injuries.

Participants learn a variety of simple techniques to help them in all aspects of their performing life. Due to the subject matter, I also offer a few short, confidential one-to-one sessions after each workshop if required.

Workshops run for between 1 hour to all day, with an additional thirty minutes for one-to-ones mentioned above, if required.

A 1 hour workshop is also available specifically dealing with performance, audition and exam anxiety.  Other tailor made workshops can be discussed with the school/company.

I present dance science talks and in 2019 I was invited to speak at the International Association of Dance Medicine Science  (IADMS) regional meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland in March 2019.

I was a guest lecturer at the University College London (UCL) on their Performing Arts Medicine MSc course in March 2019.
